First Lutheran Church Protection Policy
for Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults
In baptism we promise to support and pray for the baptized in their new life in Christ and through baptism we are entrusted with great responsibility to live together as God’s faithful people. It is vital to our ministry with families, outreach to our neighbors, and our testimony to the wider church and world that we take seriously our responsibility to protect children, youth, vulnerable adults and the adults who care for them so all may flourish physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
This policy is developed to demonstrate our commitment to the physical, emotional and spiritual safety of all our children, youth, and vulnerable adults.
Implementation and Compliance:
Implementation this policy is the direct responsibility of the Personnel Ministry Team with the assistance of Director of Youth and Family Ministry (DYFM) and support of the pastor. The ultimate authority and leadership for accountability for compliance with the policy rests with the Church Council.
